Lower CHF Equivalent Madrid Fees Soon for New Zealand
From 23rd November 2025, the amounts payable in Swiss Francs (CHF) for International Registrations that designate or subsequently designate New Zealand, and for renewals involving New Zealand designations, will lower by more than 15%.
Rule 35(2)(d) of the Madrid Protocol Regulations requires WIPO to adjust the CHF equivalent amounts if a contracting party has declared it wants to receive fees in its own currency and for more than 3 consecutive months the CHF equivalent amount has decreased by at least 10%.

Consequently, where deadlines allow, it will be cheaper to wait until on or after the 23rd November 2025 to designate or subsequently designate New Zealand in respect of an International Registration under the Madrid Protocol and to renew an International Registration that designates New Zealand. It may also make the business case for including New Zealand amongst the designations of interest more appealing.

The specific amounts of the current and forthcoming CHF equivalent fees are given below and provided by WIPO here.
