Michael joined Pipers in 2000, after working for nine years as a Senior Examiner at the New Zealand Patent Office (IPONZ).  Michael's main areas of expertise include patent and design work in the areas of building and construction and mechanical engineering. 

Prior to joining Pipers, Michael held senior positions with The New Zealand Railways and in the private sector with Wormalds (NZ) Limited.  He has had considerable experience in, and success with assisting SME’s and start-up companies to gain a foothold into very competitive markets.

In his spare time Michael devotes his time to his family and enjoys house renovations.

Michael is a registered Patent & Trade Mark Attorney in both New Zealand and Australia.  Michael holds a Civil Engineering Degree from Auckland University and is a member of IPSANZ and a Fellow of NZIPA.
